BLAST CLEANING
This cost-effective technology has changed considerably over the years from a dusty/sandy method to a clean and dust free process. D&R Masonry Restoration can remove anything from existing coatings to stubborn carbon stains on surfaces ranging from stone to concrete.
The three main techniques we use are sand blasting, baking soda blasting, and dry ice blasting. We carefully choose which method will work best for the needs of your building. Using the new ice blasting techniques shifts a process from one that used to need major dust control to a process that can be performed inside in delicate environments.
D&R Masonry Restoration performs sand blasting, soda blasting, and ice blasting services for businesses throughout the state of Oregon, along with businesses in Washington, Idaho and Montana. Whether you need cleaning of your commercial structure in Portland OR, Boise ID, Spokane WA, or Helena MT, D&R Masonry Restoration can send a team of our blasting and restoration pros to your location.
Why Choose Sand, Soda, or Ice Blasting?
All the technique selections we offer work well for basic cleaning and removal of elements such as paint. We can help you decide which one is best for your project specifically.
Dry ice blasting
Dry ice blasting involves shooting pressurized dry ice at the desired area for a quick but very effective “wash”. Ice blasting is becoming a very popular option for deep cleaning as it is non-abrasive and it requires no clean up – nothing is left behind due to vaporization. It works well in a variety of spaces for a number of different textured surfaces. Though it is technically an abrasive cleaning method it doesn’t damage what it is being applied to. It also does not leave any residue or unpleasant mess behind.
Sand blasting
Sand blasting uses sand to forcefully remove the coating as necessary, bringing the original surface forward – it can be excellent for removing surface rust. It can take a little more time and effort than newer dry ice or baking soda blasting techniques but at D&R Masonry Restoration we’re prepared to handle it if sand blasting is what your property needs.
Soda blasting
Soda blasting is a great choice if you need to get rid of tough grease, for example. It uses baking soda to blast away problem spots. It is not overly abrasive, so it gets the job done without damaging your surface. This is why it is a good “medium” option between sand and ice blasting. It can be abrasive when necessary but will not actually cause harm to what it is being applied to. Soda blasting does leave behind some residue, though it is extremely easy to clean as baking soda simply dissolves with water.
